We built 6 Duplex/Townhouse residences on a small, infill subdivision of 3 lots near the UNC campus.  These were each approximately 1600 square feet, with 2 having additional accessory apartments on a lower level.  The idea for this project was to achieve the density allowed by duplexes, while retaining the privacy and individual nature of single family homes.  The units are joined by adjacent 8’x8’ bathrooms so that the main structures of the units are separated by 16 feet.  The individual units have compatible, but distinct exterior details and paint schemes to further emphasize their individual characteristics.
