The Vogel/Joseph Residence was designed for a younger retiring couple from the midwest.  The home was designed for a 10 acre site in Talbryn, a community which we also designed and built.  While we were working on the design, one of the clients was found to suffer from a progressive and ultimately fatal illness which increasingly affected her mobility.  So, although we were planning the home for general acessibilty,  we intensified our efforts to make the home and the grounds suit her needs.  The accessible features are incorporated in a subtle way, such that the home is not obviously designed for a person of limited mobility.  The home is sited at the crest of a hill, near the back of the site, and it offers a stately presence in the woods.
